Maria del Rosario Pilar Martinez Molina Baeza, a Spanish American actress, comedian and flamenco guitarist popularly known by her stage name Charo.

Charo was born in Molina de Segura, Spain, on 15 January 1951.  Her father is an attorney, and her mother has been a mom staying at home. She has nationalities both Spanish and American and is of Hispanic ethnicity.

In her life, Charo was married twice. She was first married in August 1966 to Xavier Cugat. She was under 20 and when they were married, her husband was 66 years old. However, after becoming a U.S. naturalized citizen in 1977, she filed for divorce from Cugat. In April 1978, their divorce was finalized. She said her marriage to Cugat was a contract to bring her to the United States legally.

She finalized her divorce the same year, she married Kjell Rasten in South Lake Tahoe, California, on August 1978. The couple has a son born in 1981, Shel Rasten. Her son, for the heavy metal band Treazen, Shel is the drummer.

At a very young age, she was sent to the convent and her grandmother hired a private tutor to teach her how to play guitar. She had already mastered the instrument when she was just nine years old and left the convent on the advice of a nun who told her that she belonged to the show business.
