Sofia Villani Scicolone is an Italian film star, popularly called Sophia Loren by her screen name. She has ruled the cinema world among the most beautiful and talented actresses.

On September 20, 1934, Sophia Loren was born out of wedlock to Romilda Villani and Riccardo Scicolone at the Regina Margherita Clinic in Rome, Italy. She was called Sofia Villani Scicolone when she was born. Her father, who was a construction engineer, left her mother to take care of young Sophia alone.

From her relationship with her longtime partner, film producer Carlo Ponti, Sophia Loren has two children with whom she had been married for half a century until his death in 2007. Their children are sons; Carlo Ponti Jr., born on December 29, 1968, and January 6, 1970, respectively, and Edoardo Ponti.
