Sofia Margarita Vergara Vergara is a Colombian-American actress, model, TV producer, model, and businesswoman born on July 10, 1972, in Barranquilla, Atlantico, Colombia. She is the daughter of a cattle producer father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, and homemaker mother, Margarita Vergara. She has three biological siblings and one adopted sister.

Vergara came into recognition as a co-host of the Spanish language TV network Univision in the late '90s. In 2003, she got her first acting job in the movie Chasing Papi.
